That this massacre happened in a country once thought safe from such horror should be a wake-up call. But in the West, we rarely connect the dots between ideology, intolerance, and violence. Instead, we hear soothing phrases like “isolated incidents,” or “complex social problems.”

Let’s be clear: tolerance is not a suicide pact. Ignoring ideology that openly despises Jews and glorifies violence invites exactly this kind of catastrophe.

Meanwhile, in France, authorities recently cancelled the traditional New Year’s Eve concert on the Champs-Élysées—an event that typically draws millions—not because of snow or infrastructure issues, but because of threats to public safety tied to extremist violence and migrant-associated unrest in Parisian suburbs. Critics point directly at rising violence linked to poorly integrated immigrant communities, especially in areas dominated by Islamist radicalization and socioeconomic alienation.

This is what happens when governments refuse to enforce assimilation and security. Streets once teeming with cheer now carry a heavy security presence; celebrations are replaced with pre-recorded broadcasts and ominous warnings from police urging citizens to stay home.

Organized retail theft is a complex and coordinated criminal operation that can be carried out locally, regionally or nationally. These groups often steal from multiple locations and resell the merchandise through online marketplaces like eBay or flea markets.

According to the National Retail Federation, organized retail crime costs America’s stores tens of billions in losses each year. It’s also a serious threat to public health and safety, as products stolen from retailers are often tampered with or are not properly labeled.

The FBI and the other agencies involved in law enforcement are doing all they can to fight this crime, but it’s a difficult task. And they need help.

Several retail companies have issued warnings to their customers about the dangers of ORC, including Target and Walmart. They say the thefts have already cost them about $400 million this year and are likely to cause them to either raise prices or close some stores.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Best Buy recently warned that he was seeing more ORC in his stores than ever before. He said the problem had become “a real concern” and that it was affecting employee morale.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson recently called for the State Legislature to fund a dedicated retail theft unit in Washington, and he cited a statistic from the trade group RILA that claimed ORC rings represent a $70 billion problem nationwide. Earlier this week, a Lynnwood police department operation netted three people wanted in a nationwide ORC ring for stealing from at least one Target store. They’re accused of stealing at least $300,000 from Target over the years.

They are members of a gang based in Michigan that is allegedly responsible for the bulk thefts at Target locations across the country, according to police.

It’s a serious problem that’s taking a toll on retailers and the economy, as it means higher prices for American consumers, less sales tax revenue for state and local governments, and a dwindling supply of the goods that American citizens want most. It’s also a huge threat to public health and safety, as tampered or contaminated products can make us sick.

COVID-19 pandemic

If the COVID-19 pandemic was a news story of 2022, it would not only be a disaster for humanity, but a huge economic burden as well. The number of deaths could be in excess of 2 million. This would have economic impacts for years to come, including postponements, cancellations, and unemployment.

In early 2019, the World Health Organization began tracking the spread of a novel coronavirus. It also began working with global experts to expand scientific knowledge. WHO and other partners are working to reduce the risk of infection.

While the virus has not yet reached epidemic levels, the number of cases continues to increase. The virus is a member of a large family of viruses, known as coronaviruses. Coronaviruses are capable of causing more severe disease than the common cold.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than one million Americans have died. But this figure represents just the first two years of the global outbreak. A massive vaccine effort has begun in conjunction with the World Bank Group and other partners.

In China, where the population is undervaccinated, and has limited supplies of treatments, the COVID-19 pandemic is a matter of survival. The country’s health authorities have started going door to door to distribute vaccines. However, they are concerned about the side effects of the vaccine.

As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, the World Bank Group is working on the largest vaccination program in history. WHO is working with partners to expand the understanding of this new coronavirus.

Russian invasion of Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered forces to invade Ukraine on February 24. The resulting invasion began a nine-month battle, and has left nearly seven million Ukrainians displaced. It has also deepened Ukrainian national identity.

A poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology showed that 86% of Ukrainians supported the war. However, the majority of Ukrainians had a “bad” attitude towards Russia.

A Gallup poll found that 70% of Ukrainians are determined to fight to the end against Russia. Interestingly, the New York Times reported that an uptick in support for the Russian invasion had occurred.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said he has doubts about the Russia-China relationship. He wants to discuss Ukraine with his counterpart, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At a G20 Foreign Ministers meeting, Wang Yi reiterated China’s neutral stance on the war. While Wang Yi did not acknowledge Russia’s invasion, he urged maximum restraint on all sides, and called for curbing the “spillover effects” of the conflict.

China’s customs administration eased restrictions on Russian wheat imports after the inauguration of President Putin. Meanwhile, the Red Cross Society of China will provide $791.5 thousand in aid to Ukraine.

In the meantime, a Chinese government spokesperson has outlined four priorities for resolving the conflict. Specifically, Beijing has asked that the conflict be halted around nuclear facilities, and it has urged for humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, Xi and Putin met in Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the SCO summit. Xi did not mention the Ukraine invasion in his discussion with Putin. But he did ask for Germany’s participation in a Global Security Initiative.

Animal relocation is helping euthanasia rates plummet

Despite some progress, many animals are still being euthanized in our homes and on our streets. The ASPCA’s Relocation program is doing its part to save a few of these creatures by partnering with high-kill shelters and bringing them to locations where they can get adopted.

Besides helping euthanasia rates plummet, the ASPCA also helps to strengthen programs in partner shelters. To date, 70 shelters have shut down gas chambers. In fact, the ASPCA’s relocation program is also helping to keep cats and dogs from spreading diseases like rabies.

Some animal welfare organizations, like PETA, have even gotten in on the action. For instance, in 2019, they euthanized 1,614 animals. Not only is this an improvement on the previous year, it is the best year since the group started tracking euthanasia rates.

In addition to pet euthanasia, shelters are euthanizing a wide range of other creatures. Dogs and cats, for instance, are killed for reasons ranging from overcrowding to medical issues. Among these are behavioral problems. Aside from the aforementioned sexism, a sex-related issue can also cause an animal to be left in a high-kill shelter, resulting in the dreaded death.

As for the ASPCA’s Relocation program, they do a great job in keeping cats and dogs from dying a miserable death. Their relocation efforts include providing guidance and resources to partner shelters. Having an active relocation program is a good idea because it allows the organization to source the shelters they work with. It is also a good way to reduce overcrowding.

Brazilian elections

Brazilians cast their ballots for president on Sunday. A vote that was widely seen as a rebuke to the nation’s erratic leadership. The election was marked by an ugly campaign, which raised concerns that the nation’s democratic institutions are in decline.

The race has been marred by allegations of fraud, and Brazil’s electoral authorities are working to increase transparency. However, the election has roiled the country, with a number of violent attacks on candidates and police, and a high rate of voter dissatisfaction.

In a recent survey, voters said the economy and corruption were the top two concerns. But the election has sparked deep divisions between supporters of the two candidates. Both have promised to fight corruption, while tackling crime and growth.

Betty White was a popular entertainer who has appeared on numerous television shows. She was also a dedicated animal rights activist. Her career spanned eight decades.

White became a household name in her 80s. After appearing on sitcoms and game shows, she was a star on the small screen. Among her many accomplishments, she was a member of the Television Hall of Fame. As the first woman to be a producer of a national TV show, she was a pioneer.

The anniversary event was to be held at her Brentwood home. It was to include special guests such as Clint Eastwood, Ryan Reynolds, and Tina Fey.

Jonathan Pollock

Jonathan Daniel Pollock, a man from Lakeland, Florida, has been charged with assaulting multiple police officers with a deadly weapon. He has been accused of a violent entry into the Capitol building and using a shield to attack three law enforcement officers.

Federal agents tracked Pollock while he was in California and Florida, and the fugitive is believed to have friends and family in several states. A reward of $15,000 was offered for the arrest of Pollock in March. This has since doubled. It is believed that the FBI has active surveillance on the Pollock family.

Pollock was part of a group of friends and family from Polk County. He also has a sister, who is in court awaiting trial.

The affidavit lists the suspects, including charges, where they are from, and their status. Some have ties to right-wing extremist groups.

Guy Wesley Reffitt

After a jury convicted Guy Wesley Reffitt of five crimes associated with his involvement in the January 6th Insurrectionist attack, he was sentenced to more than seven years in prison. His sentence is the longest yet imposed for any defendant involved in the Capitol riot.

According to the FBI, Mr Reffitt was part of a militia-style Three Percenters movement. These groups are named after a small percentage of the colonial US population that fought against the British in the War of Independence.

The jury found Reffitt guilty of five counts, including obstructing an official proceeding, carrying a firearm during a civil disturbance, and transporting a firearm during a civil disturbance. He was sentenced to serve at least three years of supervised release.

The charges against Mr Reffitt stem from his actions on January 6, 2021, when he went to the U.S. Capitol wearing body armor and a helmet, and armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

Michael Perkins

The list of insurrectionist convictions involving the Capitol riots in 2021 includes several Floridians. Among them, Jonathan Pollock stands out. He was a part of a group of rioters who slammed into the police line and then engaged in tug-of-war style conflict. During the attack, he also broke an officer’s grasp.

Another prominent rioter was Joshua Christopher Doolin. He was a member of the group that pushed through the Capitol Police. His family and friends were reportedly gathered around him when he was arrested.

In addition to Pollock, dozens of other rioters are in jail. Some are accused of participating in the insurrection, while others were arrested for their roles in destroying property or assaulting law enforcement officers.

One of the most serious charges is seditious conspiracy, which can carry a prison sentence of more than five years. Other charges involve violent entry into the Capitol grounds, disorderly conduct in a restricted building, and obstructing an official proceeding.

Olivia Pollock

Despite the fact that many rioters have been put behind bars, a number of Floridians are still at large, accused of participating in the deadly Capitol insurrection. Some of them have been linked to right-wing extremist groups. And the FBI is reportedly actively looking for them.

In a federal investigation, prosecutors have primarily relied on social media posts. But they are also seeking financial records and credit card information. Depending on the standard of evidence, agents can get court orders to review these records. Using a “trap and trace” device, agents can track all calls from a particular phone line.

A federal statute makes it illegal to cross state lines to avoid prosecution. The FBI was able to monitor Pollock’s movements while in California. It also tracked him when he was in Florida.

The impeachment managers from the United States House of Representatives have delivered articles of impeachment against Donald Trump for incitement and insurrection against the United States government.

This would make Donald Trump the first president in United States history to be impeached twice. The Senate failed to convict Donald Trump the first time he was impeached.

Certain Republican senators have expressed that they do not support the present impeachment because Trump is no longer in office. They state that the second impeachment would serve to divide the nation further.

However, other Republican senators have stated that they would support impeachment under the circumstances because of the severity of what Trump is alleged to have done, i.e., incitement of insurrection against the government.

Most legal scholars agree that impeachment even after the president has left office is legally constitutional, because he was impeached while still in office, and the impeachment would serve to disqualify Donald Trump from ever holding office in the United States.

A minority of legal scholars’ state that it is not constitutional to impeach Donald Trump because he is no longer in office.

It does appear there is precedent for impeachment of a person once they leave office on the basis that a person who is impeached could simply resign without having to face the consequences of their actions and could potentially hold office again.

Whatever the case, there have been only four presidential impeachments in United States history, and now Donald Trump holds half of those four.

It will now be up to the Senate to determine the trial rules, and the timing of the trial. The House of Representatives will be the prosecutors in the impeachment.

With great fanfare, President elect Joe Biden and Vice President elect Kamila Harris were sworn in at the United States Capitol amongst a bipartisan group of dignitaries who were socially distanced.

Notably absent and in a breach of tradition, Donald Trump did not attend the inauguration, nor was the customary invitation to the White House given by Trump to incoming President Biden.

Donald Trump seemed to want to escape Washington DC as early as possible so that he could get a free flight on Air Force One one last time to his new home in Florida.

Vice President Pence along with his wife attended the inauguration as well as congressional leaders, ex-president’s including Barack Obama, William Jefferson Clinton, George Bush, and their respective wives. Retired congressional leaders also attended along with other dignitaries.

There was heavy security in the nation’s capital due to the fact that right wing white supremacist terrorists and insurgents attack the United States Capitol two weeks earlier with the intent of trying to overturn the United States election and democracy at the behest of Donald Trump.

The nation seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as normalcy seemed to return back to the government with Biden’s inauguration.

Lady Gaga saying the Star-Spangled Banner, Jennifer Lopez saying America the beautiful, and Garth Brooks saying amazing Grace. They all gave great performances.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, and the security situation in the United States Capitol, rather than having people fill the area in front of the capital and the reflecting pond, which is ordinarily the custom during presidential inauguration’s, instead 200,000 Star-Spangled Banner flags were planted to symbolize people.

President Biden comes into office with an unprecedented number of serious problems to resolve after the tumultuous and disastrous Trump presidency. There is a Covid 19 pandemic, a once in 100-year deadly viral outbreak that has killed over 410,000 people as of Biden’s inauguration. Further, millions are out of work, and hundreds of thousands of businesses have gone under due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Most experts agree that Donald Trump’s utter failure to provide competent leadership on the coronavirus pandemic situation was the cause for the massive economic downturn related to the failure.

Biden also has to deal with the diminution of the United States on the world stage, global warming, a crumbling infrastructure, and many other problems that were not dealt with under Donald Trump.

Both Democrats and Republicans seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as Joe Biden was sworn in.

Joe Biden said, “now it’s time to get to work.”

Joe Biden has been giving nearly daily briefings during his presidential transition. His main topic is the United States recovery from the Covid 19 pandemic among other topics.

Joe Biden has announced his plan to get 100 million Americans vaccinated within the first 100 days of his administration. This would mean if it can be done that approximately one third of Americans would be vaccinated in a little over three months. The existing two vaccines that have been approved for distribution, require a second vaccine to be administered in approximately one month after the first injection.

Joe Biden is planning on using the resources of the United States federal government in coordination with state governments to do mass vaccinations as opposed to the Trump administrations delegating the process to the states.

Joe Biden has also announced an economic recovery plan which includes giving the resources necessary for the states to not only be able to mass vaccinate the population, but to also open up schools, provide PPE, extended unemployment benefits, etc.

Above all what Joe Biden has brought to the table just before his administration is to take office, is that the Covid pandemic is not a political issue, it is an American issue. He states that he wants all Americans to wear masks for a short time so that the nation can get the Covid pandemic under control.

Under the Trump administration, Donald Trump mocked and discouraged people from wearing masks. He wanted Americans to artificially think that the Covid pandemic was just like a flu, so that the economy would remain normalized.

Joe Biden states that the economy cannot be normalized until we get the Covid pandemic under control.

Americans are sure to see new leadership, with incoming president Joe Biden on the Covid 19 pandemic that will encourage the wearing of masks, encourage people to get vaccinated, and above all to educate people that this is not a political issue, it is an American issue that must be solved with science leading the way.

The attack on the capital in Washington DC by Trump supporting domestic terrorists who attempted a coup d’état against the United States by interfering with the certification of the electoral college votes by Congress, and reinserting Trump as president notwithstanding the fact that he lost the election, has resulted in the United States realizing the threat and enacting security measures to prevent anything like this happening in the future.

Approximately 20,000 National Guard troops have been deployed in and around Washington DC to provide security for Joe Biden’s inauguration. The National Guard troops will complement federal law enforcement in providing security to the city, the government, and for the peaceful transition of power that occurs pursuant to the United States Constitution.

The United States sees the domestic terrorists as enemies of our government, the same way it looked at the Confederate secession during the Civil War.

The Federal Bureau of investigation is seeking to find as many people who were responsible for the attack on our government as possible, and the United States Attorney is seeking to prosecute them.

The United States government is making it clear just like it did during Civil War times, that it will not tolerate any violent attack on the United States whether it be foreign or domestic.

The National Guard troops that are deployed in Washington are armed but there rules of engagement have not been publicized as of yet.

The FBI has warned that white nationalist domestic terrorists plan armed so-called protests in the nation’s capital and at each of the 50 state capitals in the union.

The FBI has warned each state to be on notice.
