As a 57-year-old man, I remember the vast richness of excellent movies growing up. From extravaganzas like the Godfather, the 10 Commandments, the Wizard of Oz, the list is too great to name here.
There were always great extravaganzas, action-adventure, drama, comedy, romantic comedy, and other types of movies to go see including great science fiction movies.
In the last few years, the entire movie industry seems to of been taken over by comic book studios, and most of the movies are geared towards comic book and Marvel type of movies.
It seems like the adult movies, with adult type of themes and seriousness have all but disappeared in favor of movies that are geared more towards kids and teenagers. Maybe there might be adults that get off on, book type of movies as well, I do not know, but from my perspective the movie industry all but died.
With the current coronavirus pandemic, it does seem like this trend might be reversing a bit. Presently, movies that used to be released directly into movie theaters are now being released onto streaming services like Vudu, Netflix, Amazon, and more. As a matter fact, Netflix and Amazon are producing their own original content now.
Mainstream movie actors that you used to see in the movie theaters, are now appearing on Netflix and Amazon series instead of just movies.
In my lifetime we went from going to the movie theater and watching TV, to being able to rent VHS movies, to being able to purchase and rent DVDs and Blu-ray discs, to now being able to stream movies and original series.
I think with the pandemic there is a huge market now for entertainment. I understand that may be quite expensive to produce entertainment for the masses, but for the life of me let us start seeing more adult themed entertainment instead of the comic book crap that we are seeing now.
